Pre-line Checklist for Interior Linings (NZ Building Standard Guide)
Our proven quality control process before installing GIB and interior linings — ensuring every project meets or exceeds NZ building standards.
What is a Preline Checklist?
A preline checklist is a critical quality control process completed before interior wall and ceiling linings (such as GIB) are installed. At this stage of a build, all structural elements, services, framing, insulation, fixing requirements, and wet area preparation all need to be checked before the walls and ceilings are closed up.
A thorough preline process helps reduce rework, improve coordination between trades, and maintain build quality from the start.
Why Process Matters in Construction
Many construction issues don’t come from major failures — they come from small things being missed before walls and ceilings are closed up.
Our process-driven approach ensures:
Critical checks are completed at the right stage
Trades are coordinated before work is covered
Problems are identified early, not after the fact
Every stage of the build is documented and verified
This is how we reduce rework, avoid delays, and maintain a high standard of finish across every Buildmac project.
Our Preline Quality Control Process
At Buildmac, every project goes through a detailed pre-line inspection before linings are installed.
This ensures:
All services are installed and tested
Framing and supports are correctly prepared
Insulation meets required standards
GIB fixing requirements are met
The site is ready for the next stage
This process helps eliminate errors, improves build quality, and ensures compliance with NZ building standards and manufacturer guidelines.
